S.League Preview

LIBERATED WARRIORS OUR BIGGEST CONCERN

The battle for fourth spot grows ever more intense, as our Bulls prepare to host SAFFC on Sunday evening in a clash that will be pivotal in deciding the fortunes of not just two, but three teams.

Three points are all that separate Richard Bok's Warriors from Geylang United, who currently stand a single point ahead of us, but by the end of the evening there will be at least one change in the league table placements thanks to goal difference.

Naturally our position is the most advantageous, and a win will catapult us well clear of SAFFC with just six games remaining in this season.

And it is certainly possible considering the depleted state of the Choa Chu Kang-based side, who could even find their mathematical hopes of retaining the title disappear before this game kicks off.

Nineteen points separate them from Tampines Rovers at the top of the table, and if the Stags claim full points from their Saturday match, then SAFFC will officially be out of the title race.

Ironically, that could free them from the psychological shackles of forcing a result, which would mean our heroes can expect a tough fight against a team with nothing to lose.

Defensively Bok's boys may have looked rather porous this season, having leaked a curious 35 goals in 26 league matches.

But on their day, men like Shahril Jantan, Noh Rahman and Daniel Bennett can be extremely focused, so there cannot be any room for complacency on our part.

Their attacking side has looked rather blunt of late, though, and with former Singapore captain Indra Sahdan Daud still out injured, the job of scoring goals has mostly landed upon the shoulders of the midfielders.

That is where our brave fighters must win the main battle on the night, so expect all eyes to be on Goran Subara, KJ Park or even Shafuan Sutohmoh as they look to cut off their opponents.

If they can get all that done, then the likes of Ruhaizad Ismail or Fazrul Nawaz should have enough operating room down the wings to cause all manner of trouble for SAFFC.

But they will need plenty of help and support - so do your part and make sure all the players can hear some noise up in the stands!
