AGU AND FAZRUL SET FOR SERBIA TRIP

Gombak United Football Club would like to congratulate Agu Casmir and Fazrul Nawaz for being named in the Singapore squad that will travel to Serbia for a three-match training camp in August!

Agu and Fazrul join three other designated forwards in Aleksandar Duric, Khairul Amri and Masrezwan Masturi, giving national coach Radojko Avramovic plenty of experienced options to consider ahead of Singapore's Suzuki Cup campaign in December.

Despite relatively modest goal returns in the ongoing S.League campaign, both of our heroes can expect to play important roles for the Lions, who will first face Thailand in the Yamaha Stadium, home of Thai Premier League side Muang Thong United.

The squad will then fly over from Bangkok to Serbia for a two-week training tour, where they will face a specially-chosen Serbia XI before taking on two clubs from the country's top tier.

With the league on an enforced three-week break, the trip means Agu and Fazrul will not have a chance to give their legs a much-deserved rest, but the chance to get a change in scenery may not be all bad for both of them as they look to rediscover their scoring touch.

Once again, on behalf of the club, here's wishing Agu and Fazrul a happy trip!

WOODLANDS CLASH BROUGHT FORWARD

The league fixture between our Bulls and Woodlands Wellington on 8 October has been brought forward to accommodate the schedule for the RHB Singapore Cup quarterfinals.

The new match date is 6 October, 48 hours before the original date. The venue of the match remains at Jalan Besar Stadium.

This will be our final meeting with the Rams this year, having already played them twice in the league and once in the League Cup.

Woodlands have won two of those encounters, claiming the edge in the League Cup semifinals against us on penalties before pulling off a shock 2-1 victory in the league on 16 April.

Both those matches took place at Jalan Besar as well, so there will be a huge incentive for our heroes to do better this time.

Fortunately, the most recent meeting between the two teams on 1 July produced a convincing victory for our fans to celebrate, Pascal Eddoh making his debut and promptly scoring twice in a 5-0 rout.

Incidentally, South Melbourne, the team that beat us in the first round of the RHB Singapore Cup, will be one of the two teams featuring on 8 October.

The Australian side will face Thai outfit Bangkok Glass in the second leg of their quarterfinal tie at Jalan Besar on that day, with the first leg taking place three days earlier.
